Evidence & Custody Officer
Owns the unbroken chain from counter-op to dossier — the seal the adversary cannot break.
Role Summary
The Evidence & Custody Officer owns THE RESET's chain of custody from counter-operation to legal dossier — receiving captured telemetry, platform artifacts, and dark-pattern documentation from field and science teams, preserving it under tamper-evident seal, and maintaining the evidence registry that makes the directorate's cases hold if they ever reach a tribunal or regulatory proceeding. The role is the single accountable custodian of the most sensitive evidence the directorate holds, much of it classified QUANTUM-ZONE-TASK-FORCE EYES-ONLY. A broken chain does not just lose a case — it can lose the directorate's deniability.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, log, and preserve all counter-op evidence — captured telemetry, platform artifacts, technique documentation, and dark-pattern samples — under tamper-evident seal with an unbroken chain of custody.
- Maintain the evidence registry and transfer log to expert-witness and regulatory-audit standard, recording every seal, handoff, and access event.
- Steward the secure custody vault, controlling access and certifying storage conditions for sensitive and EYES-ONLY material.
- Validate handoffs from Counter-Op Field Analysts and Technique Researchers against collection and packaging standards, rejecting compromised material.
- Support General Counsel and Dispatch with certified, defensible evidence packages for casework, regulatory submission, and potential disclosure.
- Audit custody practice across the directorate and report any integrity breach immediately to General Counsel.
Required Qualifications
- Evidence management, digital forensics, or chain-of-custody background with documented custodial experience.
- Mastery of chain-of-custody doctrine and evidentiary admissibility standards across relevant jurisdictions.
- Meticulous, audit-proof record-keeping discipline under the highest classification tier.
- Absolute discretion appropriate to QUANTUM-ZONE-TASK-FORCE EYES-ONLY clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Law enforcement, regulatory-investigation, or tribunal evidence-handling experience.
- Secure-facility or vault-management background with access-control systems experience.
- Familiarity with digital-evidence preservation standards and forensic imaging procedures.
