Role Summary

The Undertow Relay Engineer builds, maintains, and operates the UNDERTOW — the directorate's covert relay network of Tracker, Injector, and Command Node units embedded inside rival platform ecosystems. The mesh is the delivery mechanism for every counter-pattern the directorate deploys, and its integrity is the difference between a clean intervention and a blown operation. The role keeps the network alive, undetected, and capable of precision injection at the moment Dispatch calls the shot.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deploy, configure, and maintain Tracker, Injector, and Command Node units across target platform environments, ensuring operational concealment.
  2. Monitor relay-network health, latency, and detection-risk metrics, rotating compromised nodes before exposure and replacing them without service interruption.
  3. Build and test injection payloads in the staging environment before any counter-pattern is pushed to the live relay mesh.
  4. Maintain the relay inventory, node-status board, and cryptographic key-rotation schedule for the Engineering Watch Officer.
  5. Coordinate with Counter-Op Field Analysts on deployment timing and injection sequencing for active operations.
  6. Develop and refine anti-detection techniques, obfuscation layers, and fallback routing to preserve network survivability against platform countermeasures.

Hazard & Safety

Hazard advisory. Legal and operational exposure: building and maintaining covert infrastructure inside third-party platforms carries detection, legal, and attribution risk; strict compartmentalization required.

Compensation

Mission-driven T-3 band with covert-operations differential and full medical.

Career Path

Advances to Engineering Watch Officer (T-4) or laterals into Instrumentation Mesh Engineering for the sensing track.
