Role Summary

The Instrumentation Mesh Engineer deploys and maintains the directorate's distributed sensing layer — the network of behavioral telemetry collectors, engagement-metric scrapers, and pattern-detection probes embedded across target platforms that feed THE GOVERNOR live data on how dark patterns are performing in the wild. The mesh is the directorate's nervous system; its fidelity determines whether THE GOVERNOR sees a compulsion loop forming or misses it entirely. The role keeps the sensors alive, calibrated, and invisible.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deploy, calibrate, and maintain Instrumentation Mesh nodes — behavioral telemetry collectors, engagement scrapers, and pattern probes — across target platform environments.
  2. Monitor mesh connectivity, data freshness, and detection-risk metrics, rotating compromised sensors before exposure degrades the intelligence picture.
  3. Diagnose and restore sensor faults remotely before a data gap becomes an operational blind spot for THE GOVERNOR.
  4. Coordinate mesh placement and coverage priorities with the GOVERNOR Telemetry Analyst, Dispatch, and the Technique Researcher.
  5. Maintain the sensor inventory, calibration records, and serviceability board for the Engineering Watch Officer.
  6. Develop and refine sensor-obfuscation techniques to preserve mesh survivability against platform detection and takedown efforts.

Hazard & Safety

Hazard advisory. Operational exposure: maintaining covert sensors inside third-party platforms carries detection, legal, and attribution risk; strict compartmentalization required.

Compensation

Mission-driven T-3 band with covert-operations differential and full medical.

Career Path
